Templating is when we measure your kitchen for the stone. It's the single most important step in a countertop job, because every cut we make at the saw comes from the measurements we take that day.
It has to happen after the cabinets are installed, level, and secured. Walls are rarely perfectly straight and corners are rarely exactly square, so we measure the cabinets and walls as they really are rather than working from a drawing.
Before we arrive, have your sink, faucet, and cooktop chosen, ideally on site, so the cutouts are sized to the real fixtures. Decide on your edge profile and overhangs too. We'll talk through seam locations with you and agree on where they go before anything is cut.
Plan on one to two hours for a typical kitchen. Once the template is done, we lay the pieces out on your slab, cut and finish them in-house, and come back to install.
